Default balance shaft

Ummm,
I'm wondering- how critical is the balance shaft timing in relationship to timing belt timing? I understand the relationship of the crank timing to the cam timing (interference engines=critical timing!) But I don't know what's inside the engine that the balance belt affects. This is a 2.2 Accord- non-vtech 4cyl.
thanks, guys, I'm used to 85-87 models; this one is new to me...

The balance shaft keeps the engine running smoothly, If its miss aligned the engine will shake.

do a search for rotation unbalance and you wuill find some info. it would be a long explanation to get you to fully understand it how it works and what the principles behind it are.....all that balance/unbalanceing stuff comes from the theory of vibrations...
