question about launching and shifting
you gotta find out for yourself man, each car is unique depending on condition, mods, etc...
your launch is depended on what traction you can get, ... ie, you wouldn't wanna launch as hard on wet street as you would at the track.
you gotta feel it out
as far as shifting... you gotta feel that out as well, but i'd say start at redline and work from there

a good way to launch is around 5000rpm...let the clutch out SLOWLY or you will have mad wheel spin. 5000 may work for me and not you...just make sure the tires can grip (let the clutch out SLOWLY ) Practice is needed to get it down to second nature.
you have got to be kidding...let the clutch out slowly? DONT do that! that burns the **** out of the clutch and you can heat your flywheel and cause friction stress cracks...i have been to the strip many times and raced my fair share of races on the street so if you want my advice, at the track i launch at about 5000-5500 rpm because there is plenty of hook.....on the street i launch at about 4500-5000 and flutter the gas to let the wheels catch up. but just find a road way out in the middle of no where and practice....thats the best way to learn

for starters, you should have posted this in the DRAG RACING forum. second, every car is different and so is the driver. you need to find what you are comfortable with and practice that method, whether it be slipping the clutch, feathering the gas and so on. third, go to the dyno for some baseline pulls (should not cost that much) see where the power falls off, that's where you wanna shift. good luck.

how many clutches do you go through ?
feathering the clutch is bad.
just drive your car normally or your going to be back here asking whats wrong with it and if the clutch is slipping.
launch it at 1,200 rpm.
