Bent Rod? D16

Wondering what are the symtoms of a bent rod? I have had what I thought at first was a spun bearing but the car still go's we then showed it to a few other people and they thought it sounded like a dry ring glazed bore! This sounded probable because the car was misfiring because of to much fuel.
I gave it some gas the other day coming home and it still seems to go well, theres just a constant tapping noise increases with rev's, mechanic know thinks it could be a bent rod, how could I tell? The noise seems to be coming from cylinder 3.

i have blown many D16's (4)
and the engines tap with engine revs, with a spun bearing
i even drove a mini me for 2 weeks with a spun bearing ( and yes it was the #3 also)
u will blow that if u drive it anylonger...
D series will spun a bearing and more likely trow a rod, before bending a rod...

Thanks for the reply yeah I thought it would snap the rod rather then bend the tooth pic when I started boosting on it the other day, I was running 16psi and seems to go fine no smoke just the noise...
Oh well its back at the mechanics now new engine waiting to go in.
