Adding a Vafc to a d16z6, Worth the effort?
I have a 92 Civic Si. I am planning to autocross the car in STS. I will have the typical I/H/E mods. The rules don't allow for much more. I can use a reprogrammed ECU or a Vafc. I am aware that the car would need to be dyno tuned to get the best performance. What gains can I expect to realize with the Vafc or would I be better off getting a re-programed ECU? Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Would this be a replacement for the existing ECU or a piggy back unit? How does it work?
Thanks for the help!

I was also pondering this question? I was looking into uberdata but I tried to find a bin for a D16Z6 with bolt ons came up empty! I got a few replies on the uberdats websites forum but most told me not to mess with the stock map until I did more mods. I s this true about all types of tuning or just uberdata? Not trying to jack this thread but what are options to tune a D16Z6 with bolt ons.

There are many different way to get your car in tune after mods.. The easiest I would say would be to use the vafc controller.. Its easy to tune and with basic boltons it can do all the tuning youll ever need.. Its also very easy to install..
If you went with something like uberdata you would need to burn chips to get a new tune..

I searched other threads and most replies say a hondata base map is better than a non dyno tuned Vafc. Is this true. If not what do you set the Vafc settings for a D16Z6 with bolt ons?
vafc isnt going to give you any new power at most it will free up lost power i really do advise vafc for the beginners and intermidiate people its a good buy and the tuning that can be accomplished is worth every penny
Go-Cart,
Thanks for keeping the bumps going.
I think I will get the Vafc. It won't be soon. I am going to get a good header on the car first. Once I get everything on and sorted out, It is off to the dyno with the Vafc. I will post my results eventually.
