1999 EX V6 - replaced original alternator with noisy bearings with a remanufactured from local parts store. Within half a day, charging light, door ajar light and parking brake lights came on. Assumed defective alternator and exchanged it. Within two days same thing happened. This time parts store said alternator checked out "perfect."

Each time lights came on, I put the original noisy one back on so I could use the car. No problems with it.

Anyone experience this problem?

New alternator = bunch of lights light up in the dash...

DId this problem occur anytime in the past???

No it has never occurred in the past nor did it ever occur with the original alternator.

Installation of the alternator is fairly easy, but with all things easy, I wonder if there was anything I did that would cause this "light show." It wouldn't seem possible so I thought I'd ask.

 

why not buy a new alternator from the dealer, since you are not having problems with them?

 

aftermarket alts are junk,buy one from honda

 

first double check that the alternator your getting from the part store is the correct one. then with the old and the new altenator hooked up check the voltage of both using a voltmeter. since yo put in a new alternator i am surre you know how to check the voltage. the readings should be the same but i am sure the refurb alternator should have a lot lower voltage then the original. it might be better off trying to get a refurb from somewhere else. but i am sure it is altenator prob and not the way your hooking it up. cause you seem to be hooking the orginal back up ok. IMO

 

check ignition switch (gauge lights) engine turns but dies?
