Default Alternator problem....

I hate electrical problems. Okay my problem is a couple of weeks ago when I was driving my Del Slow at night my interior lights and exterior light started to blink like it was going to die. Now some people said that my alternator is starting to go out. Now it's been a coulpe of weeks and my car still has the same problems but has not died yet.

Today I tested my battery and alternator with a mutimeter and found out that my alternator jumps from 13 volts to 14 volts every now and then. Now it is my altornato that's going out or am I having electrical problems, plus my engine idles kinda weird. Any opinions?

Could it be my voltage regulator?

it could be the regulator. I am having the same issue with my regulator but i have different symptoms. Just take to a auto parts store and have them test it.

Now is it an external or internal voltage regulator on Hondas.

bad battery could do it too, check your wires, alt wire to bat, bat to other stuff... you would be surprised what a bad wire can do

Battery is a new Stinger spv35 and as far as the wires they seem to look good. Well I know now that my alternator is charging my battery so what I've done so far is run some better gruond and guess I'll see what happens tonite.

if you have some time, you can bring your altenator to most chain autoparts stores where they'll test it for free. but from the soound of things, the voltage regulator is bunk (internal to the altenator). i happen have a remanufactured d-series altenator lying around. $50+ shipping, and it's yours. only ~10kmi on it. i have the receipt somewhere around here....

im pretty sure the jumping from 13-14 volts is normal.... cars usually run around 13.8... sometimes theres little dips and little spikes... shouldnt be a problem there

No thanks, need one for a DOHC VTEC but I think I will have to have them test my alternator to see if it's my voltage regulator.

Thanks guys.
