REPOST: Need help rebuilding tranny (jDM) Can Anyone help me out!

Can some PLEASE shine some light on this subject. It hasn't been covered; Ive searched all over the net. (IF IT HAS PLEASE LINK ME!)

use bearings and any syncro parts from any of the tranny's. if you want to be specific use Y1 stuff from the 90-91 LS. as for gears, use any gears you want to press on the shafts. then just re-seal it w/ silicon and fill'er up w/ some oil.
what all are you trying to rebuild in the tranny? just new bearings and blocking rings? how do the speed gear clutching teeth/syncro sleeves look? are any of the shift forks knawed up at all? any b-series tranny parts will work except when it comes to clutch discs because of spline count on input and ofcourse the fact its cable clutcher.

I want to rebuild the whole thing. Ill use the y1 gears since I cant get them in america; but as far as the rest I want to buy new parts. its a 88-91 cable jdm y1. I got quaife lsd as well. I havent opened the tranny up yet because I dont know **** about trannies!
here's an excellent write up on an install of a new final + LSD. this shows you how to open the tranny. it doesn't show you, however, how to press gears on and off the shafts if that need be. pick up a helms or factory honda/acura manual for a b-series cable clutch tranny. it'll show you.

thanks for the link; but thats all for hydro trannys!
Are cable trannys the same or what?
I think my main problem is i just dont understand trannys period.

all tranny's are the same, that goes for basically any manufacterer and whether its a transaxle or transmission, the only differences are where the output shaft goes and if the diff is built in (ofcourse theres minor differences). cable and hydro are just clutch release mechanism's.
so you THINK or you KNOW that if I keep all my y1 gears the rest of the parts I can buy for a 90-91 tranny because of the shaft size. Gears and syncros are mated for each other; the rest of the stuff is based off the size of the shaft?

they're all the same, i know this. you can swap gears from any trans because b-series carry the same case/shaft size (basically except case difference for cable and hydro). you'll have to press off/on gears to get to the syncros (need access to a press and you'll need to heat the gears to get them back on easily i use a fry daddy filled w/ engine oil to heat gears). the only thing you usually replace in a tranny is bearings and look for wear. if there was any grinds in any gears look at that specific speed gears clutching teeth to tell what needs replaced. there are all kinds of special tools (honda only) required to do this work, so be prepared before you start.
