Sounds about right. I had the exact same problem a few months ago.

I agree that is what it sounds like. It is actually the leaf that holds the spring in breaking away and lettingt ehs spring drop out.
Get to work Jeff.

That's a much better, detailed description ...
And YES - I better get back to work

Whipshhh Meoww!
Travis - Assuming the POS hybrid swap is out of my garage by the middle of this week I can do it Sat. Are you going to order a new clutch/pp/tob just in case, or is this only exploratory surgery?
I really need to keep Sunday free to make sure the crx is ready for Mid-Ohio. Still haven't figured out how to fab a camera mount onto the rollcage, and in-car footage is a MUST.

i will order a new clutch, pp, tob, tonight or tomorrow. not sure what to get though, doing research right now. i also need to find a place that will take it back if this isn't the problem.
if you want, i bet Nico could fab you up a mount. call me and i'll give you his number, he's usually at the shop pretty late. i have to bring the gsr over to the caves on sat for Nico to look at to see if he wants to make me a custom exh or not. if you brought the CRX there for him to make a mount, we could probably do whatever work needs to be done. would it be alright if we worked on race cars on sat and street cars on sunday, instead of the other way around.
i know you said you needed to bleed the brakes, which i can help you with easy enough, is there anything else besides putting that fender back on?
EDIT:
is it just the clutch that should be replaced, or PP as well? i will replace the TOB/pilot either way since i'll already be in there. how crucial is it to machine the flywheel when you put a new clutch in?

Your clutch disk felt fine to me, you most likely need the pressure plate and tob. However, most places sell both as a combo. I wouldn't worry about the flywheel. O'Reilly's can machine it quickly if it's obviously out of balance.
That'd be great if Nico could fab a mount. We wouldn't need to bring the crx, it's plain old 2.5" tubing on the cage. I have an I/O port mount, but the bracket is for a 2.25" bar. I need to modify the bracket to fit 2.5", that's all. Should be simple for him if he's interested.
Sat/Sun or Sun/Sat, either works for me. The fender's about all that's left on the car. Bleeding brakes will be easy, have speedbleeders
Just need to doll it up a bit for the tv cameras.

another tendency that i noticed tonight if it changes anybodys thoughts on what the problem is:
on downshifts, if i move the gear lever into the lower gear as the revs are still climbing, it grinds. if i wait until revs have peaked or are on their way down, it will downshift smoothly.
