Default "Tornado" style product for the exhaust system, check it out....

Ok Before I post the link I'd like to say that I found this in the July issue of Max Power (UK version). I understand why the tornado is a **** product. But in the exhaust system on a turbo car per say, it makes more sense that it could help lower backpressure/increase flow.

So after that I wanted to do a quick check for more information, see if anything technical is shown at their website. here are a few things they claimed

"massive power gains"

"the first 1,000 miles after installation of the Vortex, the engine and exhaust system become de-carbonised." - ok that I dont get

"In diesel engines the black smoke particulates are reduced dramatically."

"engine oil will remain cleaner and last longer." - ?

"The Vortex Performance exhaust has undergone 10 years of research and development, which has taken exhaust technology to a new level."

"Less exhaust pressure-Once the Vortex exhaust is fitted, there will be a considerable drop in exhaust pressure in front of the Vortex. The manifold temperature will decrease which is particularly beneficial for turbo charged engines." - ?

"Each Vortex Performance exhaust is hand-made and there are more than 50 stages in their manufacture. All are made of 1.6mm thick mild steel or stainless steel, and are very robust.

The Vortex Performance exhaust is available in:
• Mild steel
• Stainless steel
• Highly polished stainless steel
Guarantee for a stainless steel Vortex performance exhaust is 5 years. Mild steel is 3 years."

Maybe if someone could explain some basic physics involved with this and why it may or may not work.

now here's the link

All of this is complete bullshit. How do I know?

I actually bought one.

It wasn't exactly the same one listed on this site, but there is another muffler system that I believe is virtually the same here: http://www.nutech2000.com.au/prod10.htm . It's all a giant load of crap. It's remarkable that none of these sites have been shut down for false advertising. I tried to get in touch with the guy who originally sold me mine, but his email didn't work anymore and no phone I own can call Australia.

Anways, here is my experience with it in a nutshell:
* Sounded horrible, very very loud
* Created huge backpressure. I lost 15 HP (dyno proven) just from this muffler.
* Created a rich condition in the engine, was very hard to correct
* Created very bizarre changes in volumetric efficiency -- was very hard to get the fuel curve correct
* Not made of stainless, mine was just painted. Started to rust within 2 months
* Looked really ghey

Mine is now headed for the trash. I can take pictures of it, but it pretty much looks just like the one listed on that site. I wasted more than $300 on hardware an installation, so definitely you shouldn't either. I gladly cut that damn thing off a month ago and put on a Hytech twin-loop, and it's like driving a different car.
