Radiator leak
My radiator has started to leak from somewhere. I think it happened while I was racin my buddys semi-souped up V8 4.4 Grand Cherokee 4.4. My mileage is only approaching 60k.
I've floored my car before, but on this occasion we had about 4 drag races to about 100mph. Should that cause excessive pressure on the radiator? Just wondering if something else caused the leakage because I've heard a bad head gasket can cause a leak (how I wonder).
The leak doesn't seem to be excessive tho I need to examine it a bit more.
Also the fan turns off when I turn off the ignition, for most cars it stays on till it cools right?

id check around the end tanks. ive seen alot of leaks there. also check your hosing. is it definately coming from the radiator. the fluid could be dripping from somewhere else. check the thermostat, around the intake mani, and the hose coming from the radiator
Yea, just checked it. It is worse than I thought, the fluid squirts out from the radiator at 3k revs and over. Kept the car running for around 30 mins, it didnt seem to over heat. The fans come on at constant intervals though.
i had the same problem. everytime i would run my car a decent amount fluid would leek out over the headers and a slight bit of smoke would come from the car. some stock radiators have plastic tops and it cracks and leaks right above the fan. the really only way to fix it is to get a new radiator. u can get one from the junk yard or just get a new one from napa or somewhere. good luck
Is it possible for me to stick in an intercooler instead of a normal radiator? Are there any advantages of doing this?
BTW I will be sticking a turbo in my car within the new couple of months.

Cracked radiator is a very common problem for the integras. I know mine cracked on the bottom and started leaking...eventually getting worst. a couple of my other friends have had to replace their radiators on their tegs as well.....

intercooler and radiators are completely different things... intercooler cools the AIR, radiator cools the FLUIDS.... so no, you can't.
where are the cracks on the radiator? top? bottom? where is all the fluid shooting out?

Cracks are at the tip along the seams.. strange thing is it seems to have cracked on the main tank and the reservoir. I'll look for a new radiator.
Not too sure what choice I have regarding radiators for other Honda's.. JDM's are pretty rare here in the UK.

intercoolers can't be used as radiators. i also had to just recently replace my radiator and my car has 106K miles on it. I have a prelude w/ 200K miles and am still using the same radiator. integra radiators suck.
i was watching The Discovery Channel and this show called myth busters did an experiment on a radiator, the myth was that if you had a leak in your radiator, you could crack an egg into the fill hole and it would seal the leak, it was true, it worked, but for how long, i dont know. that car was at normal operatorating temp too. FYI.
