can integra RS with GSR pass smog?
just replaced my LS motor with a GSR into my integra RS and was wondering is there anything i can do to pass smog? for example will a stock piping, and LS ecu pass in a smog test? Please let me know, thanks.
If you mean, actually be legal, um motor swaps need to be taken to an arbitrator first. If you mean, will the mechanic not notice, probably not. And if it will actually pass the sniffer test, you'll just have to smog it to find out.
use a stock comupter, make sure you have a fresh cat, no check lights, and should pass with no problem. technically you cant pass visual, but oh well.
Almost everywhere except CA and NJ, it's pretty easy to pass from what i've heard. In Colorado, all they check on visual is that you have a legit cat converter.
you can't pass smog....because ls and gsr have different emission levels....when they smog it...it will be under ls emission levels......not gsrs...meaning you might fail..
Actually, in CA, so long as the GSR engine is USDM, it's a ligit swap, no referee needed. The reason is that you can swap any engine that was available from the factory for that year make and model of the chassis, so long as all the emissions related components are installed with them. Of course, the GSR engine has no EGR, whereas the LS did, so you're okay there. So as long as the engine is in good working order, the cat's working, you don't have any aftermarket components that don't have a CARB # and the check engine light isn't on, you should be good to go.
