Default will it pass visual test?

I recently bought a 93 civic cx and i was plannin on swapping a GSR motor in there but my friend said that when i go to a smog test it wont pass the visual. is that right? even if the GSR motor is completely stock? thanks

Here's the scoop. Techincally a smog station will not smog your car if there's a swap in it, and they'll tell you to go to a smog referee to get them to pass the visual and tailpipe. Now, if your motor runs good (passes tailpipe w/out any problems), throws no codes, and your swap is clean (no wires all over the place, all vacuum hoses plugged up, smog **** all hooked up), then there is no problem with a referee passing you. Otherwise, if the smog station is naive, then they'll disregard the fact that it's a B18C motor and smog your car anyways... as long as it passes tailpipe. All depends on where you live too.

Been there & done it all different ways for years now so I know how most things operate.
