Well, first mistake was thinking it was like a Civic.

Do you have any kind of book or instruction to follow? If you've never done this kind of thing it helps to have manuals or someone around that knows what their doing.

How 'bout being more specific than it "wont pull right out".

indeed. or else this might be more of a personal problem than an automotive related problem.

quite easy to swap out springs, but have no idea what brand those things your "bro" has. never heard of them. are they an off brand or some super 1337 brand that I have not heard of? just curious on that point.

easy way to do it...

jack up car... block rear wheels.
remove front wheels.
remove the brake line bolts (two on each side).
remove the two bolts for the upper a-arms (only an open end wrench is needed or ratchet since the other nut-side is welded to the bracket)
remove bolt to the lower a-arm & shock mount.
remove the two bolts on each of the shock towers underneath the hood.
remove shock by wedging it out.

once the coilover is out...(easier if two people do this), one person stand on one end of the shock, while the spring end is directed towards a curb or other fixed object that will not move which is strong as a curb. remove bolt, slowly, at the top of the mount and it will eventually "pop", but the spring will only release about 1"-2" tops. there... you can figure out how to disassemble and reinsert the shock. don't forget that the new shock will sit on the perch a particular way.

reverse for installation. with the lower springs, it should be cake getting the assembled coilover back up there.

I don't think I left out too much. if I was more awake, I'd remember each bolt measurement but this should do for now.

not at the moment. I cannot recall off the top of my head. if I go for some grub or leave work and get a chance to post, I'll try looking underneath as a reminder of what to do. otherwise, IIRC, the rear is pretty straight forward / similar job to the fronts.

the only issues you might have are in the trunk itself, removing the driver-side rear shock mount. the gas fill/return lines are right there and can be difficult to get to if you have large hands.

Go to S2Ki and look for the spring install DIY. I followed it and it was perfect.
