Default What would it take?

I am debating on what motor to swap and I was wondering what kinda hp numbers it would take to run 12.9 on street tires. I wanna be able to beat any stock car on the street, plus most of the rice rockets. I wanna keep the budget fairly cheap and I will be adding a homemade turbo setup. Any recomendations on a motor swap?

Well you won't be able to beat EVERY stock car on the street running 12.9's.

i dont think a gsr with a quaife lsd will run 12.9 on street tires. Now maybe 1 out of every 50000 engines might...What ever your going to do you will need to go beyound a motor swap and get some cams maybe a nice header exhaust.

i heard of this new engine. it's called the "search" engine. it fits your budget perfectly, and it's super fast too. i would use it to do a little research.

Sorry man, just had to. YOu could do a crazy d-series build up. Just look around b16's and b18's have a lot of stuff you can bolt on them. Same goes for the d16, so look around. If you can think of it, more than likely some else has done it.

this is pretty debatable if you pour alot of money into the D, you might get away with 160hp all motor. 12.9's only if the car is light as hell.

Search was a good suggestion. But to tell you the truth. I wouldn't spend all that money for a swap. I would just build a d-series motor with some internals and then just boost the crap out of it. Easy 12's.

Well, You could have a K20A motor imported from Japan, it comes stock on the Integra Type-R. Produces 220 hp.

First of all, when did he say anything about getting a cheap motor? Second, making a turbo yourself will require you to be able to fabricate things, which, is reason enough for me to think that he could possibly afford the K20A, Fabricating your own parts and doing related work pays pretty well -.- So why don't you lose the attitude? Thanks.

b16 swap cheap and effective. And you will probably only need like 7-8lbs to run 12.9 on street tires. Its still going to be difficult running that time on street tires though to tell you the truth. You can definitely do it on slicks though.
Other option d16z6 but damn your going to have to run alot of boost to run that time on street tires.
What is this going in a crx or hatch, year, model?

LOL...Yeah I'm sure a 170hp motor will bring you into the 12's on street tires...
