Need some product suggestions to help bring back the neglected paint on my Volvo. It's 18 years old, and has likely never been waxed. The clear coat has been nice enough to flake off of 80% of the car, leaving good material to work with. But I need stuff that will work well on the non-clear coat paint.

On my old '77 Benz, my dad and I had great luck with a 3M polishing compound, followed by Meguiar's polish and then Meguiar's wax. Thoughts?

No mail-order stuff for me - want to keep the price relatively low (hey, I paid $500 for the wagon, you know).
