You had someone or someplace do it for you? Are you sure they installed the aftermarket piece? Did you buy it from them or did you buy it somewhere else and take it to them?

My shifter sits the same height as stock inside the car, but the throw is shorter than a stock 6-speed Miata shifter.

some of the other threads that Ive read say that you should be able to shift with just your wrist... THe distance is still way too far for me to do that.

Sounds like you don't have a short shifter.

depending on the car and the shifter but should be way shorter than the stock row boat throw.

Yeah, you would most definately be able to tell the difference, in both the length of the throw, and the feel of it.

remeber that most short shifters are actually short "throw" shifters. They reduce the amount of distance that the shifter has to travel between gears, a lot of times the remain the stock height.

i got a short shifter installed about a month ago and the distance is a lot shorter. it takes a quick flick of the wrist and it shifts. its tough to even tell if its in nuetral or in gear by lookin at it because its so short. good luck on the shifter man

You have to feel the difference. Maybe they didn't even install it?

i don't think any short shifters make the height of the stick shorter. I've called a couple companies and they all said that's something you have to do ur self or something else , i can't remeber.
