Default gutting a cat

Out here in AZ, we have no smog checks or emission laws. Wondering if gutting out a catalytic converter is something that has to go to a shop or is it a do it yourself job?

you can do it your self my boys (friends) did it to 2 cars our selves just watch out it can be a pain in the ****. If you have an obd2 car though i think your car will throw codes. If not just take the cat off and get a big pipe and slam it in there (we used a hydraulic lift pipe) also if you have a dril it will help to loosen the stuff inside. Beware though it will be extremely loud, lose a lot of low end, and be even more noticable to cops (especially if you have an exhaust. But it is fun cause you get to take your frustration out and hit something!!

And you ask why we were forced to take English classes when we already speak the language?

Don't bother!

Easier to got Autozone and make a $10 test pipe.

Gutting a cat is not fun IMFO. 30-45 minutes of beating with a 1.25" steel pipe....
and the dust IS NOT GOOD for you!

I agree w/ MistaBone. There's always someone who may want to buy the cat from you as well. I made the mistake of gutting a car on another Civic, it sounded like **** afterwards. I'd go with a high-flow cat or do as MB said-testpipe.

gutting a cat can actually hurt your performance. try a test pipe or a high-flow cat.

And for god's sake, do any of you guys actually care about pollution?

I do

Get a high flow cat, the only reason a test pipe will help is if you have FI or N2O!

Yeah you need some restriction in there to build a little pressure or else the gases won't escape quickly enough (or something like that)
