Increasing mid range on a b16..
Would a 84mm bore give a b16 mid range tq like a b18c? I know that 3mm cant compensate for the much larger stroke of a b18c. but with CTR intake cam GSR exhaust cam and a t3/sc61 it should be very noticeable right?
Im still contemplating buying a gsr shortblock and building it or, resleeving my b16 to 84mm. my goal is to have a 400hp+ car with very good low end response here is a break down of what I have:
Full weight 94 civic ex coupe
stock bore b16a2
eagle rods, JE pistons 8.8:1 c/r
780cc precision injectors
rev springs and retainers
CTR intake cam GSR exhaust
both JG edlebrock intake and aebs typhoon (not sure which one I will use)
sc61-stage 5 wheel .69 a/r
AEM EMS
LS tranny with quaife differential (complements of Earl
)
So whats the best option? keep my b16 and go 84mm or get a b18c?

with a b16 stroke you'll never have the torque or midrange of a 1.8, but the bigger bore will help. also, ditch the LS trans and get a b16 trans.
selling the trans is not an option. I have a $900 quaife in it. plus I overpaid for the trans because it was legitamate. which is rare in my aera.

well thats one of your major problems there. the combination of a b16 and an LS tranny is probably one of the worst possible and will make your car extremely sluggish
84mm B16
LS tranny
PS u can always pull the quaiffe out and put it into a b16 tranny(wont fit GSR/ITR)

Well if you are sleeving either one than get the b18
If you already have the pistons you may have a problem
If you only can afford to build the b16 OR buy a gsr bottom....
SLEEVE THAT BITCH
