95 Accord A/C, Compressor clutch sometimes won't engage
Need some help on A/C for 95 Accord EX, V6. A/c sometimes works for several minutes, then clutch disengages for minutes before coming back on. Also, clutch doesn't cycle correctly. Check charge when clutch is running and charge is normal, (middle of correct pressure on check refill gauge).
Any ideas on clutch sporadic? Is there a clutch relay independent of compressor?
All help appreciated

Did you use a single gauge on the low side to check the pressure?
This only tells you if there's enough refrigerant (although under certain conditions, it can read inaccurately, like with a bad expansion valve).
You need to install a gauge in each line accurately diagnose a problem.
For example, if you have a blockage somewhere on the discharge (high) side, the suction (low) side will read correctly, but the high side will be extremely high. When that happens, the pressure switch opens and cuts the compressor off till the pressure drops to a safe level. Then the compressor will come back on and the same things happens over and over.
But you'd never find this out with just one gauge.

Hard to specify because it depends on various conditions such as ambient temp, humidity, state of charge, etc.
A ballpark figure could be 40 psi on the low side, and 210 psi on the high side.
