H22 STOCK LSD INSIDE A H23 TRANSMISSION? TO BE OR NOT TO BE?
HEY GUYS, QUICK QUESTION, I HAVE AN H22 TURBO IN A 4DR '93 CIVIC WITH AN H23 TRANS, AND CAME ACROSS A STOCK H22 LSD, JUST THE DIFF. IF I OPEN MY BELL HOUSING AND PULL MY OUT MY NON LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER AND FINAL DRIVE, AND PUT IN THE H22 LSD, WILL IT WORK? ONLY RESPOND IF YOU KNOW THIS IS POSSIBLE OR ISN'T, OR HAVE PERTANENT INFORMATION PROVING IT CAN OR CAN'T BE DONE. THANKS.
if it's the m2b4 lsd I would say no it's a different size than other h22a diffs you can't even put an aftermarket lsd in there.
don't cheap out just buy a real Lsd like a quaife and put it in the h23 tranny. the oem lsd is nothing special it barely works!

Is there anything wrong with the M2B4 LSD? I thought I heard it was good.
<-doing research as to whether or not the M2B4 is worth it when I do my swap.

M2b4 casing is totally different from the other H-F series trannies. I am kind of glad I didn't get the JDM lsd tranny with my swap.

there is nothing special about it as far as I'm concerned....it's not liek an ITR OEM LSD it doesn't lock nearly as much

Please explain? I'm getting my swap soon and was hoping to get this tranny. If it's got problems I'd like to know why... thanks!

First, you can't buy a quaife for it. If you were to break the LSD you're gonna need to find another JDM LSD. Also, if the casing breaks (like my friend's) good luck searching for another case. There really aren't problems with it, it just has a couple of cons.
Thanx for the info. I was hoping to get a LSD with my swap, but it sounds like I would be better off getting a quaife. They are a little expensive, so I guess I will have to wait. Anyone have opinions on Kaaz or Phantom grip. I never have plans to do more than bolt-ons to the car.... 190-200whp would be the max the car would ever see. The car car will see street driving, autocrossing, and maybe the occasional track day.

As far as the KAaz and phantom grip.
Phantom - Some swear it works, some swear it's the biggest POS. Too many mixed reviews to come to a decision.
Kaaz - Only downside is it is a clutch-type LSd which means it will require maintenance and a break in session of doing figure 8's in a parking lot. The amount of maintenance will depend on how often you go to the track. Also here's alittle something about the KAAZ. Scroll down to 1 2 NV's post on the first page (pics provided). https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=918902
Quaife - Warrantied for life, even under race conditions. Helical which means no breaking in and no maintenance, same system as OEM LSD's, but even stronger.
As far as an m2b4 LSD fitting into a USDM tranny, it won't fit to my knowledge. I know Satan_SRV tried to fit a quiafe into the M2B4 and it was not successful. If anyone knows anything else please chime in anytime. Please correct me if I am wrong since I do not want to be the bearer of misinformation.
