Default Type R Transmission on B18B1 engine

With the recent demise of 3 of my synchros, im sorta kinda in the market for a USDM/JDM itr transmission with lsd.

1) It fits... right?
2) Anything else I have to change or add? anything in the ecu?
3) I know handling will improve, but what about in the 1/4?

thanks

The shorter gearing will get you down the quarter mile a lil' quicker, but the LSD is what you're really going to love. The gears are shorter and will keep your RPM's up during quarter miles shifts (which would be much more helpful with a higher-revving Vtec-equipped motor) and will keep you higher RPM-wise during even everyday driving. The ITR tranny is a good idea, but will slightly decrease your gas mileage and may not be worth the $$ if you're sticking to your LS motor.

how difficult is it to find a gsr transmission with lsd? does jdm gsr come with lsd?

also, i plan on building the b18b engine and maybe lsvtec later down the line... after turbo.
so it will be able to rev higher with all that and cams installed and TUNED.

The only GSR trannies you're going to find are ones that the owners had LSD's installed in them. Otherwise, your only options for hydrolic (what you need) OEM trannies with LSD are ITR and CTR (I believe).

k. thanks. so... for the money, would you say 600 for gsr transmission with no lsd + lsd + lsd install fee, or 1200 for a type r with lsd.

I would think about lsd'ifying my gsr transmission after suspension and turbo mods.

the latter. the ITR tranny has shorter gear ratios. regardless, i figure that both options would cost the same. I'm assuming 3-4 hours for a PROPER LSD install and $300 (ebay) for the ITR LSD.

the gearing of the type R is worth any extra you would pay over the former. the gearing of the ITR will give .3-.5 in the quarter over the GSR's, easy.

i wouldn't get the ITR tranny AND the JDM 4.78:1 final drive...the LS would top out at 110...and at 80 you'll be spinning around 4800-5000 RPM.
