I just had my brake system flushed because my fluid was brown. Long overdue. My brakes still feel really mushy. I'm sure they bled the system. Would SS lines cure this?

97 Civic EX w/rear drums. Just replaced front rotors and pads too.

 

Did the brakes feel firm before you flushed the system? If it was firm, then suggest that you bleed the brakes.

If it felt mushy before, how old is the car?

 

give him a better bleed job cuz there is more air in the lines

 

They were ultra-mushy before I had the system flushed. I thought that flushing would solve the problem. It's a 1997, and I'm sure the lines are original. Bought the car 2 years ago.

I've never really had a firm pedal feel for this car. I'm tempted to change the lines to braided SS lines, but I kinda want to do a rear disc swap eventually and I don't want to waste money on lines for the drums if I'm getting rid of them.

 

SS lines arent really gonna give you the rock hard pedal feel your lookin for. Put in a 1" R master cylinder that will give you a better pedal feel

yes its a direct bolt on, it will even bolt on to your booster but i dont know how compatible a Type R master on an EX booster would be. Should be fine

 

You should check the check-valve between the booster and the intake manifold. My dumb-*** in my ricer days replaced that re-enforced line with a cool blue silicone line. The brakes still worked, they just felt mushy.

 

Do what trintrom said. Check the rubber hose that goes to your intake manifold from your booster. If that don't work rebleed the system again. If that fails change out your mc/bb to a bigger one.

or i dont know if itll work with the ek but on the eg u can use the 90-91 ex 1" master cyl. check it out bolts right up .
