the p28 program eliminates knock sensor. depending on what kind of setup you are running or planning to in the future. Are you going to chip the p30 as well??

im still alittle new to this stuff so i have no clue what a knock sensor is or what it does, but still that didnt answer my question about a p28 or p30 comparisons. Iam planning on an all motor naturally aspirated set up stage 2 cams, intake manifold, bigger throttle body, venom fuel rail/injectors, ignitions upgrade, and possibly high comp.pistons, and some head work.hope that helps thx

Searching isn't that far away from giving you your answers. Got like 5 pages between both ECU's.

Isn't the P28 a Civic (sohc) ecu and the P30 was in a 94-95 Del Sol VTEC (dohc) ? My Del Sol VTEC came with a P30 factory. The P30 would technically be better as far as its factory programming for the 1.6 dohc. If its Mugen chipped, open the cover n look for any indication of ecu modification.

the p28 isnt a gsr computer, it is a single cam vtec civic computer. vtec kicks in at around 4500 and redlines at 7200 i believe.

p28's stock vtec is 5200, and i think the red line is a bit higher then 7200 (i think)...anways the p28 is best for all around power making for one it has a million and one programs and its hondata friendly, stand alone, friendly etc...the p30 is expensive and harder to find, but if ur in CA and planning to REF the USDM p30 is the only way to go...

vtec kicks in at 5000 on a stock p28 not 4500

and if your asking if a chipped p28 is better than a stock p30.. it all depends on the program that was put/burned onto to the p28... stock for stock the p30 is better simply becuase it you'll be able to rev higher...

not to knock (pardon the pun)
but isnt that a lot of work on your car without knowing something basic like what a knock sensor is?

i just did an engine swap on my car and i still don't know what a knock sensor does. i know where to run the wire to the ecu though.

the knock just saves your motor from detonation, it can lean out ur engine or make it a bit richer....it can either save your motor or cause you a GRIP of problems when ur doing mods.....
