Default Windshield Wiper Problem

While driving the other day in the rain, my windshield wipers started acting up. They would stop, stay stuck for a few seconds, then start working again. I also noticed that during the short time that it would behave, if I turned my wipers off, they wouldn't automatically fall down to the bottom of the windshield like they normally would, but they would just stop where they were when I turned them off. What's going on here and how do I go about fixing it? I've got a '98 Civic EX Coupe. Sorry if this makes no sense to any of you at all.

If I turn my windshield wipers off real fast they do not go all the way down. Mine work fine so its not just your car. I can't help you with the other part of the question though sorry.

Check the relay for them! That should fix the problem.

yea i don't think it is your wiper motor, b/c then it seems like they would nott work at all. but since you say it is an erratic motion, makes me think electrical like relay too.

So I should look and make sure all the wiring is still intact and everything before I go get it serviced and look like an idiot, right? Is that what the "relay" is?

the relay should be on your under dash fuse panel. I dont remember which one, but go to advance auto parts and ask for one. And then replace it. Should only be 10 bucks or so. GL
