Default Tranny Shifting problems...plz help

The jdm h22 tranny in my car has issues shifting into the top odd gears (1,3,5). It will pop out of 5th, should i check the fluid first or the linkage? has anyone else had this problem? the tranny has no more than like 35k miles on it, so im a little concerned, but im going to check and replace the MTF, make sure the clutch has enough fluid, and inspect the linkage to see what the deal is...is there any way a shift **** can affect performance? the tranny had a skunk2 **** on it, and the problem didnt seem to start until i put a stock gsr banana shifter on it....

TIA

Your cable is either not secured or it is cracked. Check the metal clips on the front side of the base plate and the ones right up by the transmission. If those are all there then your shift cable is busted. I'm guessing it is the cable since you mentioned you just messed wit hthe transmission.

took out the dc "short" shifter, and it seems to work a lot better and i lubed up the cables, so its smoother but still not perfect.....didnt have time to call honda to get a price on a new selector cable..so we'll see what happens

thanks to everyone for all your help
