Default Do I have to use threadlock on the 8 main flywheel bolts? (B18C)

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if I had to use some threadlocking compound on the 8 main flywheel bolts and the 6 smaller pressure plate bolts. If so, can I use some generic NAPA brand blue (medium) threadlocking compound or do I ned to use something else?

BTW this is for my B18C

EDIT: also do I need to use some on the crank pulley bolt too?

Thanks

No you do not.

Just tighten then according to spec, 75lbs for the flywheel bolts and 19lbs for the PP bolts.

You really do not want to use any of that stuff on the crank pully bolt.

I do not know the torque spec for the CPB but don't use thread lock on it.

As a matter of fact, I believe the service manual calls for oil on the CPB threads and washer. (so the torque reading it more true)

Thanks, I was just unsure of that because some people have mentioned the bolts backing out even when torqued to spec. The torque spec for the CPB is 130 lb/ft, unless it's a new bolt which you would torque to 145 lb/ft then loosen it then retorque it down to 130 lb/ft (from the FSM).

I usually tighten it till it feels tight. I do not have air tools so I have to do it by hand.

Jam a screw driver onto the FW teeth and tighten it by hand, that is how I do it.

I gots to make a note of the torque spec for next time.

I used Locktite blue and torqued to spec. I don't want those coming loose.

Same. I feel this is especially important for the B-series VTEC motors, and lightened flywheels as well.
Last time I checked, the torque spec for the crank pulley bolt (B-series) was 134 ft/lbs.

I used threadlocker red on the pp and clutch. I do not want it coming loose on me. Only downside is that it's gonna be a pita for for whoever does this guy's clutch next. Oh well, apparently heating it works.

Helms calls for loctite on the flywheel bolts so I did, red on the fly, none on anything else.
