New starter, clicks but doesnt turn (searched)
I got a new starter today for my JDM B16, a 90 Teg starter. When I turn the key I hear a click but it want to turn over. I hit it with a hammer and it turned over. It has been actin up though, it turns over when it wants to.
My wires have been checked, both of them. The power wire and the signal wire. Grounds are good. Im sure its just a faulty starter, but anyone know why? Arnt starters like alternators? It doesnt really matter if they are new or not, they still have a good chance of having trouble?
Thanks for any info, Im prolly just going to replace it again. Just wanted to find something out about it.

I've seen alot of electrical components that were dead on arrival.
This is not uncommon. I'd go somewhere else to get another.
I've seen bad batches of parts before.
Keep us posted.
