I think my coil is bad, I tested it with a ohmeter and the readings were low. But what coil can I replace it with ls or d-series one. No solid answers were found in archives, so I figured someone had to know. This is for a b16 by the way. thanks.

 

yes I believe u can use the LS but not the d series

maybe a weaker spark since it maybe a smaller engine

but I maybe wrong u know

 

A little off subject but when my ignitor went out i got on from a da teg.
You should be fine if you get a teg one.

Nope, I didn't get to compare to the two side by side. Anyone else? I've replaced ignitors numerous times, but now the coil went. Its one of the very few crappy parts on a honda the distrubutor.

 

For testing/diagnosing purposes, I swapped my igniter and coil from my D16A6 Dizzy to my B16 Dizzy. It ran, I didn't drive it around or rev it too high though. Worth a shot if you need to save some cash tho....

 

The ls one worked fellows. It had the same part # on it as the stock b16. Cost me $80 though.

 

sorry about the timing, too litle too late, but my coil on my b16 went out, used the one from the old d16z6, had same #'s stamped on them, works like a charm. maybe this will help someone in the future.....

 

I have used A6 coils numerous times with no problems.

 

D-series coil is the exact same one.

I have a d-series coil and ignitor in my b16a with no issues.

 

does any one know if there is a after-markrt one like a MSD that will fit the stock ignition coil?
