switching from b16a to b18b to turbo...questions
I am running a b16a with itr tranny right now in my 94 eg hatch. I have the opportunity to buy a ls longblock dirt cheap and plan on dropping it into my hatch. With a turbo port to the head, but otherwise stock what psi levels can this block take? I have 440cc injectors, 255 walboro fuel pump and EFI PMS standalone for my fuel system. I was thinking running 12psi daily driven...is this to much? What kind of power would I make at 12psi with the following:
1. T3/T04E .57 A/R
2. 3'' open downpipe
3. Intercooled of course!
I am thinking 300whp, but I have never fooled with any ls engines. Any experience on this matter would be great.
Thanks, Jeff

I don't know man, your engine internals have to be somewhat built to handle any kind of decent PSI, and especially in your case since you are wanting to use that boost daily. Have you built up the block any, or have you just done the fuel management upgrades?
I have just done the fuel upgrades on my b16a. I am happy with my the performance of the b16a, but just want to try something different in an engine. The LS will be totally stock internals, unless I happen to blow the engine then it will get built. I always here that people are running these high psi numbers like 10-12 psi daily and have no problem. I know at those numbers I will be pushing the limits of the stock internals, but I think that it can be done. I will probably just go with 10psi and call it quits. I am just looking to make 300whp, and with my custom set-up I should def. be able to. Just want to hit mid 11's on the stock block.
If you tune the motor and use good engine management, you can safely run over 10 psi, especially with your fuel upgrades. I have heard that as much as 15 psi can be run on a stock B18B engine, as long as it's tuned perfectly.....After that, I think the sleeves are the first to go usually....(?)
I'd say with Hondata and a few dyno runs w/ tuning, 12 psi should be pretty safe. Don't listen to me though if something goes wrong

Stock sleeves have been pushed past 20psi for track duties, but of course the tuning has to be insanley dead-on, one glitch = ::BOOM:: For daily duties, 10-12psi should be no problem for a B18B with proper fueling, and with say some 110 octane for the track, I'd say 16-18psi or so (considering you DO have a standalone).
The only reasoning that I have to make me think that 12psi would be ok is that my b16a saw 9psi daily driven with no problems. With the lower compression of the b18b I would see no problem with running 12psi, but i just wanted to make sure. Would 12psi give me 300whp?
