Default B16a stroke VS CTR

Hey I'm new to this form and have a question. My friend and I are planing to do an engine swap into his 99 Civic Ex, and are curious what would be better for the buck; a 2nd gen B16a with a bore and stroke kit, or a B16B CTR motor with stock bore and stroke. This would be a daily driver so we wouldn't want anything above prob, 83mm bore, but I don't know about the stroke, we were thinking like 89 stroke. I really don't know much about how the different numbers would come out. With the bore and stroke the motor would be bigger then the CTR, it would be around 1900cc's. What I really want to know is would life of the motor be hurt by boreing and stroking enough to make a major differince? Or am I better off spending money to get a CTR motor? Assume that both motors have upgraded cower cameshafts, valve springs, retaniers, the whole thing.
Thx in advance

It would definately be better to get the b16a,89mm stroke and 83mm bore.It would end up costing the same as a CTR engine but outperform it in everyway, especially if the head is built.

So you don't think that he bored and stroked motor would be very long lasting? Obviously the motor wouldn't last as long as the CTR would, but do you think it would be able to go over 100k? This is a daily driver, but it would also see it's fair share of race time too. Another thing, would the compresion be too high to run pump gas? I didn't think of that until know.
Thx again

B16A & B16B are the same ****, same crank, same bore....

The only difference is that the ctr block has a taller block, so that means that it runs a longer rod and therefore has a slightly better rod stroke ratio..

You definately want the taller deck height of b18c1/c5/a/b/b16b..for any motor build.

As far as crank goes, for power your best bet would be an 89mm ls crank. A gsr crank will also be fine. If you want to go bigger, you'll have to use a custom crank or reworked factory crank.

So your saying that I don't want to build a motor off of a B16a block because the block is 7mm lower? How does this effect the building of the motor? Sorry if the quesition makes me look like an idiot but i really don't know how the block hight would make a big difference. Is it because it would allow for better clearance for the crank?
Thx for all the advice so far

does anyone have any numbers for hp and torque with a similar build? That would be really helpful.
Thx

b16a if your going to spend the money on a CTR just get your stock b16 sleeved, run a 11-12 compression, keep your stock stroke, get some headwork, other **** and you can put down numbers like me

The taller deck is used to run longer rods to maintain a decent rod/stroke ratio. If you want to buy an engine to race right out of the box, i believe b16b is right for you. But if you wanna tear it down to make it a monster, buy a b16a, a manual a set of tools and get ready to learn.

sleeving then boring you'll be fine... i never liked the idea of stroking a b16a because of its short deck height... biggest stroke i'd ever go with a b16a would be the b17 crank (i forget its length, 82mm i think..?)
