Hey I'm leaving for the Air Force in about a week and my car will be sitting for 7 months. What do I need to do before I leave to make sure it stays in good condition? I am pulling tires and leaving it on jack stands under a car cover. Also what do i need to do to it when I get back? in case you need to know 92 teg with b16a engine and tranny. intake and exhaust done.

 

make sure you have a thick coat of WAX on it if you're gonna leave it under the covers for that long.

also use up as much of the fuel as possible. i don't think having the fuel sit that long in the car will benefit it any.

 

STEP 1: DONT TELL PEOPLE YOUR LEAVING FOR 7 MONTHS!!!!! you never know who is a fuggin jacker....

Change oil. Fresh new oil doesn't have any acids in it yet.

Fill the gas tank all the way full. Moisture condenses in an empty tank. Put in some gas stabilizer, but maybe 7 months is borderline maybe you don't need that??

Disconnect the battery, maybe take the battery inside. If you wanna leave it on a trickle charger, make sure it's the kind that protects against overcharging.

Mousetraps. All over the place. Duct tape over the air intake? Mice will get in there & chew up the filter. They'll chew insulation off the wiring harness. They'll chew up the hoses...
