Cylinder-position sensor?
You got 3 little star-wheel sensor things down in the distributor. CYP, TDC, & CKP. The ECU uses these together to decide when to fire the injectors & spark plugs.

wait, i just thought of something. can i cut the wire 2" at the ecu and 2" at the dizzy and then run some old one i have in my garage from the ecu to the dizzy outside the door just to see if it will start?

Yeah, that would be OK. Probably you only have to splice in enough wire to fix the burned part. I got no way to know whether your ECU is fried, but the simple fact you can pull codes from it is a good sign.

nonono, i cant pull codes from it. actually ill try and trigger a code by unplugging the 02 senser under the car that threw a code a couple months ago. thanks man
