Nitrous vs. Chipped ECU
just wanted to know what some of you guys would do. I'm stuck between getting the JDMshit p28 ecu and a zex nitrous kit for my 2001 Prelude. help me decide.
i know there is a huge difference in performance but the price is about the same... i can't decide if i want my car to be a little quicker all the time or be pretty fast when i have a full bottle. i'm torn between the two
you'll deffinately be faster with nitrous but i wouldnt want to run it unless you had hondata. but thats just me
for around 500 you could have hondata abd nitrous
*** a chipped ecu
for around 500 you could have hondata abd nitrous
*** a chipped ecu

why would u say **** a chipped ecu, but
to hondata, all hondata is, is a chipped ecu
plus how the hell do u buy hondata and nitrous for 500 bucks? if you can find me a deal like that i am game,

Hondata allows ALOT more control than a chipped ECU would. Can you say ignition timing? Very important for running the nitrous. I had a 60shot on my H23 and it took it like a champ. No tuning involved really... I just had a dry kit, and my friends dad tunes snowmobiles(all they can use for tuning is the plugs since snowmobile dynos don't exist.) So I'd just make a run down the street and we'd pull the plugs. 50shot dry was running rich, 60 was safely rich, 80 would survive a 1/4mile pass. Never got to see what she'd run, my car was stolen the day after tuning

you obviously don't understand how a hondata unit works do you? all a hondata is, is a chipped ecu with some bells and whistles. the hondata unit itself plugs into the ecu's serial port, and the actual programing is done via the stock external rom port, nothing special. When your tuning a hondata on the dyno, all your really doing is chipping the ecu over and over again with different fuel and igniton maps. Basically the same exact thing you do when you tune a chipped ecu.
And that's all there is to it, for example, I can take a chipped ecu and pop the hondata unit in, and thats it now its a hondata ecu, and vice versa, you can take a hondata ecu, and pull the hondata board out and put in a chip and now its a chipped ecu. hondata is nothing special, the only advantage is it is more popular than the free chipping method. Let me note that all the rom editing software I use to dyno tune chipped ecus are all freeware, all you need is a rom chip burner and socketed ecu to custom tailor ur ecu to your needs.

true but...............a pre chipped ecu is has a generic tune that will work for everyone. its not specifically tuned for an individual car. hondata albeit is also a chipped ecu but is tuned for you and your specific setup. therefore a jdmshit ecu doesnt know that nitrous is being applied which doesnt make it any safer than stock ecu

Ecu's I reccomend for a car with bolt-ons
N/A
-stock jdm P13 ecu which utilize all the sensors
-P72 with Hondata
As for Nitrous, if that is what you want, I reccomend a wet system.
