a few nights ago i go to start my car and it went into "limp" mode(couldnt rev past 3k). it did it once that night and once in the morning after getting gas. ever since its been pretty normal.

the problem is that when i turn the car on or to acc the CEL doesnt come on at all. so when it went into limp mode i didnt see any signs. if there is no CEL then there are no codes, correct? i have a feeling that the CEL doesnt work at all. is that possible? i have a modded ecu, could that be part of it? are there specific wires in the harness that give signals? i really dont think its the bulb.

please help before this ish happens again. TIA

did you run retrieving codes from the ecu?

I might be that you light is just burnt out and it is on.

 

is there a way to get codes without looking at the cluster? i just swapped it but i didnt check for the bulb. besides what can i do if its not the bulb?

 

I think if you take it to autozone they'll hook up a handheld to find out your code. Can't remember for sure.
