Comptech definitely does not give me the same feelings as Mugen or Spoon. Honestly, I believe it comes down to the perceived competence of the respective company.

When I think of Comptech, I think of some good products (maybe just the intake), but when I think of Spoon or Mugen, I feel that every product has gone through extensive testing.

Unlike American companies, Japanese firms tend to be very quality conscious, as well as very interested in detail and performance. I feel that Mugen/Spoon products are "done right" whereas Comptech are only in it for the buck.

If a product came from comptech that performed very well, I wouldn't avoid it just because it isn't JDM or whatever, but I honestly feel that Japanese made goods are superior in quality, and performance (I mean Spoon/Mugen vs. Comptech.. not all JDM **** is good).

Factory affiliations are also quite nice, and Spoon and Mugen both have these (though Comptech does have a dealer network, but that is not fomr Honda Japan... )

I dunno

Spoon and Mugen has way closer relation to Honda's R&D department. Developing parts will be lot easier for Mugen eventually as well as Spoon. Mugen & Spoon are world known companies.

Comptech is not even related to Honda R&D in Japan so how can they compare with Mugen or Spoon. As you can see the Comptech race ITR had equipped so many Mugen parts in it.

Comptech is only famous and well known in USA only.

I give Comptech credit where its due. Their flywheel is the cleanest one I have seen to date. It's unbelievable quality.

But other items such as their catbacks, headers, etc.. the JDM companies kick their *** in that department.

Oh, and Comptech doesn't have the cool radiator cap.

ugh...i started off with mainly comptech parts (i/h/e, some suspension, etc)...but now all i have left is their muffler, not even the full axle bacl....

yah, i guess now I should be Todagsr...

well, bottom line is, comptech is more appealing than RS Akimoto and Tenzo-R...

word on the street is that comptech's coming out with a new 4-1 header...

Isn't their flywheel made by clutchmasters or someone like that?

'Their' flywheel is actually a re-badged Fidanza (sp?) flywheel, oh, and they up the price a ton.

This seems to be Comptech's style. To get products from other people, and re-badge it under their own name.

As others have said, I agree that both Mugen and Spoon parts in general are far superior to that of Comptech's.
