Got a ticket last night
a cop pulled me over and told me at the last light I "came off the line too hard (or fast)" ... he said that was reckless and I got a reckless driving ticket
is this a real charge ??? i know reckless driving is real charge ... i mean if "coming off the line" is reckless and can i get a ticket for it

This isn't really the best forum for this kind of thing.
That being said, it is indeed a real charge, and hopefully you can get it knocked down to simply "Exhibition of speed." Because a reckless driving ticket is $$$$$ and tons of points.
Reckless driving is the kind of ticket you get for doing 100+ on the highway or spinning out your car on an onramp.
Exhibition of speed is like screeching your tires a tiny bit on a corner.

and the lesson learned, is don't buy cheap tires if you dont want those kinds of tickets.
My tires don't squeal around corners, nor do they chirp through the gears. At most they make a slight skid noise.

wait, how fast were u actually going, and what was the speed limit?
if you simply revved 1st to 7 or 8K, accellerated to like 30 or 35, and didn't chirp 2nd or anything, weren't racing, etc... well then that's just bullshit
if you nailed your VT4K all thru 1st, 2nd and 3rd and he pulled you over for doing 60 in a 30, well then you deserved it.....
cops can be ********
. They **** w/ everyone's insurance rates, and for the most part, don't even give a **** whether or not people are actually traveling unsafely... it's all in a day's work

My buddy has had that happen. He got a ticket for Illegal take off for coming off the line too fast. If he gave you a reckless, maybe you can knock it down to an illegal take off. btw, he wasn't speeding at all, did not go over 35 at all. Hope this helps

The best advice I can say is to just show up for your court date, at which point you can probably get the sentence reduced. If you did not exceed the posted speed limit, then you might be able to get the sentence reduced by saying that you were just revving the engine high to keep the combustion chambers clean (that is the truth, revving it up every now and then keeps carbon build-up to a minimum). But if you did exceed the speed limit, sorry man you kinda deserved it.
