safe redline for a b20 vtec
i typically take care of my motor, i dont really get on it much on the street, only to get moving because i have a b16 which doesn't make very much power until higher rpms. so if i had that motor setup, and drove the same way and occasionally went to the track, 8000-8200 would be a safe redline when i did get on it? i would assume that the b20 would have enough torque to get me going most of the time without taking it above 6000 for average acceleration.

ummm....mine made power to 8500 and was still climbing on stock cams....

I revved my LS motor (stock rod bolts) to 7,500RPM for about 5 months and then it spun a bearing. If you have ARP bolts, 8k would be safe. However, be warned...the B20 block wasnt made to see those high RPM. Somethiing besides rod bolts may give out.
Should make great power, though.

Shift where your power falls off on dyno. I am using all stock internal's and have taken my B20 to 8k for a couple years now with no issues. I would recommend an accurate tune though. As far as building power, I am on stock GSR cams and I develop peak HP at 7800 rpm and it pulls strong to stock rev limit.
