**rebuild or not**
Hello everyone i have a 99 integra gsr, with itr cams , the engine now has around 90k miles and it can use a rebuild, what should i get rebuilt? Im going to rebuild it and put it up for sale.
nothings really wrong with it the car just burns oil <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by redturbocivic »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">that would be a waste i would think. I would just sell it now and tell the new owner about everything. my .02</TD></TR></TABLE>
my mechanic says that my motors strong .. i think it is running way 2 rich..there fore consuming 2 much gas= burning oil.. how would i go about getting this fixed?
Get the car tuned. If your running to rich then a engine management setup (VAFC, Hondata) would easily lean it out. However, with your aftermarket mods that you listed your car should be tuned anyway. So, invest in a EMS and then hit a dyno. You can get quite a bit more power from it too just by tuning those ITR cams.
I have a 2.5 inch exhaust and itr cams, do you guys think i should get a compression/leakdown. make sure there are no problems then hit the dyno.. i dont know how im going to lean out my car because i do not have any tuning devices - and do you think i should invest in a tuning device if im going to sell the car..??

Do a compression/leakdown test first.
If you want your car to sell quicker then having it tuned with a tuning device would help. Unless they want to do it themselves. It depends on what your market is.....
Maybe after you tune it you'll want to keep it

it seems like your motor is still pretty healthy right? does it feel sluggish or something?? to rebuild it means you putting a $1000+ into it. and for what performance or rebuild it back to stock? if your going to sell your car, you cannot make that money back. rebuilding the engine doens't really give your car more value. and then even other buyers might be weary.. saying unless you get the motor rebuild by honda and have a receipt. you mght even decrease the value of the car.
90k miles is really nothing on a honda.

ok i just dont think my mechanic knows what hes doing.. when he dumped in my itr cams the guy said i did a little something so the car will run stronger ... its going to run a little rich tho.. i wish he never touched it because ever since then i have been eating away at oil

Well tell your mechanic to undo what ever that little something was that he did.
