possible bent valve? help me find out
hey im gonna do a compression test tomorrow, but 5th gear didnt go in i popped the clutch out and bliped throttle before i caught it, went to 9300 on stock b16 1st gen
the engine idles fine
little bit of ticking from engine. cannot tell if its injector or from head.
vafc shows -365 vaccum at idle.
any opinions before i go do a compression test would be appreciated

compression test would be a good start. if its idleing ok then and your compression test comes up all good then give it a valve adjustment and consider yourself lucky you didnt blow the turd up.
Do the compresion test. If you have done one recently compare your numbers. Adjust the valves to see if you can get the ticking to go away. Let us know what you find

did a compression test
#1 215
#2 230
#3 225
#4 230
loks like #1 isint as happy as the others, but ive been told that the numbers would be drastically less if there was a bent valve.
do you still think imloosing that extra 15psi to a bent valve or just a wore out motor or what?
i gotta drive the car 1000+ miles next week so i need to know wether to throw my other head on or just keep truckin'

As mentioned, do a valve adjustment. A very loose valve (excessive clearance) is a indication of a bent valve. Also maybe after you over rev'd your a little paranoid that the motor may sound noisier. Best bet, get/do a valve adjustment
a difference of 15psi from cyl to cyl is normal. for a b16a the max veriation or difference from cyl to cyl is 28 psi
did you do your compression test at wide open throttle? Most acurate per honda is a compression test at wide open throttle
--good luck

truthfully, this is my spare engine, and i didnt really check my clearences on my valves. my bet is that all of them are loose, so i wont know which one is the problem. i just wanna make sure its safe to drive on and if its only 15 psiand max is 28 then i guess it is
BTW woulndt u be a little paranoid ifu revved a stock 1st gen b16 to 9300?
remember it has single springs in the head

Excessive clearence on a bent valve would not be loose like the other valves assuming the valves are loose. It would be an excessive looseness/really loose to the point that you can stick your feeler gauge in and move the adjustment nut/valve by hand freely. Also yes I understand the paranoid part. Good luck and I hope nothings wrong
