Default 269 too much for a tune up?????????????

Ok so my car is overdue for its 100,000 mile tuneup so I got an estimate from my guy that works on my car for around $269 bucks. This includes as follows:

1. Valve Adjustment
2. New fuel filter
3. New cap and rotor
4. New oil filter and oil replaced

the total cost includes the labor and I figured it was a decent price but I was curious if there is anything else I should do. the belts were ALL replaced at around 92,000 miles and the spark plugs were replaced about 2,000 miles ago so I'm fine on those 2 things. Anything else that would help me out would be much appreciated and I take EXCELLENT care of my motor it has no leaks at all anywhere and oil is changed every 3,000 miles (mobil 1 synthetic).

Wow! Definitely too much....if it's for those things listed in your post.

New generic fuel filter is about $10 or less and takes 10 minutes to install. VERY easy install. Basically, unbolt the old one, and put the new one in. It's right there in the open against the firewall on top.

New generic cap and rotor should be $20-30 and can install in also 10 minutes. Also right out there in the open. Unscrew old one, put new ones on.

Oil and filter....well that's self explanatory. You can do this yourself, or take it to be done for $15 at most places.

The only thing that MIGHT possibly give you trouble is the valve adjustment. If you know how to do it, it's quite easy. If not, places will charge $50-80 for one of those.

well I have replaced fuel filter on my old eg si before but never a cap and rotor and I've only done valve adjustment on a bug. would you recommend then that I do everything myself except for the valve adjustment?

I love to work on my car but I just don't have the tools really maybe a little bit here and there but not everything so the valve adjustment will have to get done at the shop I go too but I guess everything else I could get off my *** to do myself which I think I'm going to do afterall.

anything else I should replace while I'm at it.... i don't have a big budget so small things preferred.

Im a DIY person and all those things you could replace with OEM parts for under 100 bucks if not cheaper!

The ONLY thing I wouldnt do is the valve adjustment; only because Ive never done it before. My mechanic would teach/show me how to do it if I asked but Ive never had to have it done.

3 and 4 dont require special hand tools. Valve adjustment on a GSR is easy, as far as concept, but requires patience and attention. Dont wanna over tighten or not tighten a bolt. Plus, Valve adjustment should be done with the proper adjustment tool. Kinda pricey. Here's my rundown on what it could possibly cost to adjust your valves yourself, assuming u dont have the required equipment.
1. Valve Adjustment tool = $40-50
2. Valve Cover Gasket (might as well, the damn thing is off) = 35 (Full Gasket kit)
3. Feeler gauges $8-30
4. HondaBond = $14-18

Unless you plan to adjust valves constantly,I say spend the extra dough and throw ur car to a shop for the adjustment. DO 2,3,4 on ur time.
