How much should it cost. My mechanic just quoted me 450 for the motor mount install. I thought to myself there must be someone cheaper . If anybody in the Socal are 323-562-310 are could help me out please do so.

 

hahah 450 bucks...might as well just let him pull the teeth out of your head with pliers so you can blow him some more

unless they are hasport mounts and he is barely charging labor then hes blowing you

excatly..its not a hard job..if you wanna shave some time off those"hours" wait until the job is done to start drinking

the hasport mounts are about 450 new from jhpusa.com so yea id say thats a deal..thats like buying the mounts and barely paying for your buddy to install them..you should help him out the best youy can when he does it that way you can see and possibly learn a thing or two about your car

You can do them all yourself in a couple of hours. If you have no time or tools, find somebody local on here to help you out for a case of beer or 2. I'd let my damn motor rock around like a dying fish before I'd pay that much money for a motor mount install.

lol. No I haven't done, but I heard it cost around 300 dollars to get it done. Was simply wondering where he got it done. I have replaced mounts before and they are easy, but the rear mount looks a lot more difficult, especially with my setup; H22 accord.

 

I know Luserkid will do it for you. He has plenty of tools and does good work at a good price. I'll let him know you need some work done and have him send you a message. He does all my work (stuff I don't know how to do or don't have the tools to do)

Well. I appreciate it; however, I live in NY and it seems that you live in CA, so that might be a problem. I might try to do it myself. I have replaced mounts before, and I did my own H22 swap. But I know that the rear mount is hidden behind hoses, cables and engine, plus it's a really tight fit, because the engine is pushed 6-10 inches back.

The problem isn't really the hoses or the cramped space, its the rust and torque applied during install. If in doubt, whip out the penetrating oil and 24" breaker bar IMO its the most useful big-job tool besides air equip. Mine's already half way uninstalled since I dropped the tranny for repair. MUCH easier to do than a 88 teggy's rear mount...

Tough to get a big bar in there unless you have a lift. Yes, the rear can be a bitch.

 

makes it easier if you have 4, 6" inch extensions. to get down in there

Think about what you just said... a couple of hours.

Multiply that by your shop rate and there you go. Doing the work yourself is only free if your time isn't worth anything. $450 is high, but $120 sounds fair to me.

Local shop rate is around 60 dollars here (I think that's what Nam told me it was at Phantasm). The rear mount should take you no more than an hour, and the others should take you no more than an hour combined. That's 120 dollars for all of them, not 120 for the rear.

EDIT: Buy the man's hatch! If I had the extra money I would.
