sorry if this is the wrong section... i didn't know where else to ask
i'm looking at a set of used 16x7+35 ssr schumachers. i need it to be +38, but these wheels are hard to come by and i'm reluctant to pass these up.
do u guys think it's possible to shave 3mm from the hub to correct the offset? there is a local shop that says they can do it but they need to see the wheel first, which i can't do because the buyer isn't local.
help?

Wow, Ben Tang...haven't seen that name in a while
Have you tried the wheels with the +35 offset? I've used +30 wheels on a DA before. They were 15's, but they cleared fine. I've used +37's in 16" too, also with no issues.

hey shawn long time no see... i've been dragged kicking and screaming back into the honda scene after inheriting my brother's 90 teg, and all it's problems as well
it's low enough just to tuck the top of the tires. i'm using a camber kit in the thing to save the tires. so yeah witha +35 it just barely works (with 205/40/16's), but it just eats up the insides of the tires, no matter what people say about toe. i want to stay with 45-series tires because i'm tired of bent rims.

how about this, you set it for more alil more negative camber then go get an alingment and have your toe set to stock spec's. toe is what really eats up the inside of your tires quickly, i mean unless your running like -4 camber or something like that.
in the eg/civic forum there are ALOT of topic about the false premes that camber (at low levels) eats the inside of you tire, when actually its the toe that does.
i run +32 kinda low with no problem unless i have a large passenger

i've been thru this argument before. the camber is past the -2 range. i've been to 2 reputable alignment shops and they both said the same thing... it's camber, not toe. so while the tires get eaten away on the inside, i don't know who to believe anymore. all i can do is keep flipping

That maybe true for an average joe who grandmas the car around town. For somebody who regularly tracks or autox the car and with some moderate street driving, the wear from camber evens itself out with increased outside wear from hard cornering and toe becomes a bigger isssue.
