Default Changing the offset of wheels ??

<FONT COLOR="blue">Ive 16" wheels with et37 offset, not ideal I know now!, but ive gotten away with it cos i run 195 tyres.

But I gotta get a camber kit, which pushes the top of the wheel out(goin Skunk2 btw). If I do this Ill rip off chunks of tyre and fender.

It was mentioned to me that you can get an engineering shop or something to trim down the wheel to like et42 or 45 or watever you want? That really this is even how its done by the manufacturer?

1. Is this a good idea?

2.Is it accurate? i.e. dont want 1wheel ending up et43 and one et45 and so on...

3.Is it safe? it wudnt weaken the wheel wud it?

4. wud that part of the wheel need to be re-finished? i.e. protected in some way?

Suggest you sell existing wheels and get new ones.

<FONT COLOR="blue">Not an option cos
A: cant afford it (im a student workin p/t).
B: Its very hard to find 16" wheels here, every1 sticks 15's or goes 17's and up. And even moreso hard to find my wheels in 16's, Of all the places i rang when I bought them, only one had a set, and they only had one set-which are now on my car!!

The thought did cross my mind tho.
Im not 100% i need camber kit tho. My alignment was out too, so im waiting another 1000miles to see if the wear continues now that the alignments sorted.
But even if i dont get the camber kit(think i shud tho: jus over -2degrees neg camber @each side on the front-no problems with tyre wear at the back tho, even tho its like -1.5 degrees each side i think!), it wud still be a good idea to have an et42 offset...tho even with 4guys in the car it doesnt rub- and its dropped 66mm@front and 55mm@rear!! =&gt; combination of 195 wide tyres and Koni Yellows set to medium@the rear! :D

With that camber, I would definately run a correction kit on it. You will definately get early wear if you dont.

I wouldnt recommend shaving any of the wheel off....

<FONT COLOR="blue">Ive already seen early wear, lots of it after only 6 or 7k. But the toe was fairly out...so im hopin that was causing most of it, so im gona wait a bit to see how bad the camber does it on its own.

If I cud get like 15-20k out of tyres id put up with it as that wud be a yr or so.
