Default DROP FORKS

I am wondering... is it possible to chop and weld the factory front shock forks to make drop forks? Or is it cast iron and unweldable. Cast steel? Is it possible or does anyone know where i can find them? Could it be possible to make them out of aluminum? Billet aluminum and still hold the weight of the car?

thanks,
Stephen

Why not just get coilovers and slam it? I would chop and reweld a vital part of your suspension and worry if it would fail.
