Replacing Timing Belt while engine is on a stand
I've been reading through how-to's and what not for timing belt change, and it seems the most common technique involves using a big-ol wrench to losen the crank pulley.
Is this even possible while the engine is on a stand?
Or should I invest in a specialty tool (pully holder).
I'm planning on replacing the following more-or-less all at the same time:
water pump / gasket
timing belt
head gasket / oil pan gasket
all cylinder head gaskets
($350 worth of parts right there ... sigh)
Anything else I should consider while I'm on a roll?

Would be just as easy if not easier on a stand. i think your talking about the harmonic dampner pully? if so just get the specialty tool for holding it with one breaker bar and use anther one on the bolt should come right out. And since you have more room to work you can propably use smaller breaker bars. Try using an impact gun first tho! Impact can take it right off in seconds of someone dident put a **** load of locktite on it.
Otherwise i did a write up on how to take the damned thing off its a snap with the right specialty tool!

I wouldent jam the tranny gears your asking for tranny trouble and clutch proplems just use the air gun and specialty wrench i cannot figure out why ppl just dont go and buy the f$%^$%^$ tool its less then $40 dollers for crying out loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! why mess up something else and spends possibly hundreds repairing something that would be fine if they dident do it half assed!
Im me if you got Questions man i walk you thro it!
