94 accord ex (canadian model) gas gauge doesn't work
This is a back up car that my parents rarely drive. They bought it brand new in 1994 and it only has ~50 000km on it. The fuel gauge does not work, or is incredibly inaccurate. After filling it up, it'll say 3/4th full, drive it for a few minutes and it'll read empty. It is completely random. What should I do?
all 94s are like that.. well atleast my last two where.. haha never tried replacing them, mine would be accurate most of the time though.. unless i just filled up and l ike u said it was reading empty 4 min later.. obviously it isnt right
You have a bad sending unit. My '94 was the same way. At 160,000 miles, my tank rusted out and I had to replace it. I wound up getting a used tank from a junkyard complete with sending unit and pump. Now my gauge works fine. If I recall correctly, the sending unit is on the passenger's side and can be accessed though the trunk without dropping the tank. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.
Heh, my 94 just started doing that about a month ago too, but the prices I've seen on them seem to be about $160. Anyone seen them for cheaper?
I dont worry about it too much, because when it hit 350 miles on the trip meter its usually time to fill up.

http://www.tasautoparts.com has them for like a $100 i think. I need one soon, as mine is inaccurate but i just monitor the trip mileage.
