Default What compression numbers for a B16?

I'm looking at purchasing a Del Sol VTEC (115K miles) and I am going to get the compression checked. What is the normal compression for a healthy B16 engine?

you'd want about 150, IMO.

I wouldn't use the word "want". He'd want them all sitting at 200 or higher with no one cylinder varying by more than 10 psi from the others. 150 just seems a little low to me. My sister's Accord with an H23A1 and 111k on it just compressed 215-220 on every cylinder last weekend. So I definitely see a healthy B16 churning out 200+.

I'd like to hear Spade's thoughts on it just in case I'm way off base. It's been known to happen once or twice. But yeah, I think that 200+ is really where you want to be. Not that 185 would be bad, it's mostly the deviation that you should be worried about where one cylinder is really off (more than 10 psi difference).

My assumption of an engine that is beat on with that many miles would be at about 150 or so.

I should have stated you want higher than 150. What the heck was I thinking?
