oil on spark plugs.
I was changing my spark plugs when i noticed that I had oil on my #2 plug. And I have just recently changed all my spark plug ring gaskets and my valve cover gaskets. Could this be something more serious? I have not done a compression test. And it is a 92EX - 140k- manual. Any help would be great... thanks.
No, it is common. It is pretty tough to get the seals around the spark plug holes to seal. A compression test wouldn't do anything because in order for it to come from the cylinder it would also have to have hole around the plug. Mine has done it for ever and I have tried regasketing it many times, never had any problems though.
Its normal. You may want to replace them again and try to not over tightening them. I'ev been told just to hand tighten the valve cover and then when thand tight, turn another 1/4 turn.
You might have ripped a small hole into one of the spark plug gaskets when installing them. I did when I was putting new ones on mine. I had to run back to Honda and buy another. The hole was small but I didn't want to chance it. Try that and remember, like stated above, only torque the valve cover down to 7 ft/lb. Those bolts are easy to break.
I still have white residue on the tips of the plugs all 4 of them. Is this the cause of a natural oil burn? thank you for all the help.
