Oil on spark plug
I have a 99 GSR db8. I know it burns some oil, but today I was changing the spark plugs and noticed that piston #2 spark plug had oil on the thread. Any one know were it might be coming from? Can my rings be bad or valve guides?

Re: Oil on spark plug
Well, The top of the spark Is not it Oil. Just the tread of the spark plug. So It must be the rings or the valve seals. Would a leak test help in narrowing down If its the rings or not? Every once in a while I start the car and there is blueish smoke for a few min's But not always.

Re: Oil on spark plug
if its on the electrode its probably rings or valve seals. if its on the threaded side its probably the spark plug tube seals. hopefully its not the rings.

Re: Oil on spark plug
If its on the electrode its definitely rings, the blue smoke will go away usually once the car is at operating temperature, for the most part anyways. But definitely rings, get yourself some Lucas Oil Stabilizer and use 10% and 90% oil. Do that on your next oil change and that SHOULD help the oil burning. Hope this helps.
