Default How to dissasemble the VSS?

I just bought a new VSS holder and I want to replace the middle holder peice. How do I remove the gear from the bottom? The top part is pretty self explanatory.

I looked it up in my helms. Had zero information on how to dissassemble. I might just have to look at it and hopefully figure it out.

to take the gear out, there is a pin that needs to be slid out. then the gear will slide out, but its greasy, so dont do it with white gloves

use a screwdriver and try to like pop it out. you cant really mess anything up unless you start using a hammer and chisel.

but a normal flathead should pop it out

get it used from someone. parts like that are parts you ask for really, no one posts up VSS plugs that much, at least from what i have seen.

i used to have some gears and holders, if i do, they are probably broken

I got it apart. UNFORTUNATELY, I was replacing the broken holder and then the top part broke off

The VSS was very very easy to take apart. Basically comes apart in 3 peices.

The top plastic peice is removed by the 2 10mm bolts. Once you remove the plastic peice, the gear itself is removed by removing the look a like paper clip. Peice of cake. I didn't even need a flat heat to remove it.

Honda just calls it a "clip". Most VSS's use 90638-689-000
